Moderately dense but very strong, walnut can be found in homes that were built well more than a century ago. Today, it is often used to make high-end cabinetry and furniture but is still a great choice for flooring. Featuring a mostly straight and open grain, walnut varies in color from light to dark chocolate-brown; has excellent woodworking qualities; and, as a flooring, is easy to clean and maintain.
