Extremely hard and heavy, oak wood is generally divided into two categories – white and red. Red oak flooring is the more traditional choice of the two and popular for its light golden to reddish pink tones and distinctive, "wilder" graining patterns. White oak flooring is considered the harder of the two, having less pronounced, finer graining and a warmer golden, brown color.
