All maple hardwood used by Great Lakes originates in the Appalachian Mountain region. Dense and extremely tough, maple is a very light-colored hardwood with evenly-sized pores, which gives the wood a fine texture and even grain. Eastern maples are generally harder than western maples, due to the colder winters and shorter growing seasons. Both are highly durable and take any stain well.
